Key Responsibilities
Operations Management: Direct and coordinate daily operations across fabrication, production, and installation departments to ensure seamless workflow, adherence to safety protocols, and compliance with industry standards. Oversee facility maintenance, equipment preventive maintenance, and building upkeep to maintain a professional and efficient environment.
Planning and Scheduling: Plan, Develop and prioritize project schedules based on project workloads, material availability, and deadlines. Review and approve Master BOQ, Phased BOQ’s, all drawings for accuracy and material requisition plan as per BOQ, prior to submission. Plan manpower needs, track job progress, and adjust schedules for issues like material shortages or change orders.
Production Oversight: Lead the fabrication process for aluminium systems, steel structures, glazing, facades, and cladding, ensuring products meet specifications for quality, tolerances, and cost efficiency. Collaborate with detailers and foremen to determine efficient means and methods of fabrication, including punching, cutting, welding, machining, and assembly. Monitor production metrics, analyse reports for nonconformities, and implement methods to eliminate operational problems and improve product quality. Check and act on the materials availability as per project wise requisitions to avoid any last-minute shortage of material.
Field Installation Management: Coordinate with field engineers, team leads and supervisors for on-site installation works of windows, doors, glazing, facades, cladding, etc for all projects; ensuring installations are proper, safe, level-up, and aligned with architectural drawings and specifications. You will be a bridge between the client and company on all technical ground. Manage subcontracted work, handle RFIs (Request for Information), submittals, change orders, snag lists, and close-out documentation for all projects. Ensure proper and timely quality audit at all sites before handovers.
Project Management: Manage multiple projects from award to close-out, including budgeting, cost tracking, progress billing, and profit margin evaluation. Investigate cost overruns and identify improvement opportunities. Handle design development, tendering, and coordination with architects, suppliers, and clients.
Team Leadership and Development: Supervise and evaluate staff, including, engineers, team leads, draftsmen, estimators, site engineers, fabrication supervisors, production control, installation teams and store supervisor. Participate in hiring, training, and performance management. Foster a goal-oriented team environment, resolve conflicts, and conduct hearings for grievances.
Vendor and Supply Chain Coordination: In tandem, along with Purchase dept, control vendors for material procurement, subcontract assemblies, and special requirements. Ensure timely deliveries and maintain relationships for optimal supply chain performance.
Quality and Compliance: Ensure all products and installations conform to customer requirements, regulatory standards and quality programs. Promote continuous improvements in quality, technological superiority, efficiency, safety, and housekeeping.
Strategic Initiatives: Lead decisions on capital equipment, facility layouts, and process enhancements. Compile historical data for estimating standardized production rates and assist in business growth strategies. Put continuous efforts on process implementation through team in the organization.
Technical Expertise: Provide input on engineering modifications, read and interpret blueprints, specifications, structural drawings, and working drawings. Utilize project management software, spreadsheets, and estimating tools.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. High school diploma required at minimum.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in construction and min 5 years in manufacturing management, with proven experience of at least 3-5 years in aluminium fabrication, steel structural works, glazing, facades, or cladding works. Background in a job-shop or custom fabrication environment, civil construction, steel structural works, glazing, facades, or cladding field, including project management from contract to close-out is necessary. Experience in metal fabrication operations is highly desired.
Skills
- Expert knowledge of fabrication means, methods, materials, and standards.
- Proficiency in MS Office, project management software, estimating tools, and CAD systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, training and interpersonal skills for team motivation and stakeholder interaction.
- Excellent time management, conflict resolution, and crisis management abilities.
- Ability to prepare BOQ & Estimates, read architectural blueprints, working & shop drawings, and specifications.
- PMP certification is a plus but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with quality programs like Six Sigma or ISO standards and processes.
- Must have a process and system oriented practical mind with ability to work under pressure.
- Technical knowledge with a commercial business focus approach is highly desirable.

Physical Demands: Role involves 50% desk work and 50% field work tentatively depending upon the requirement of the job. Must be willing to travel to project sites as needed.
